On-Street EV Charging Program

Jul 8, 2025 | EV Charging

In January 2024, the Healy-Driscoll administration provided funding to MassCEC through the Electric Vehicle Coordinating Council (EVICC) to develop a program that will increase access to reliable electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure for residents without private parking, specifically in Environmental Justice Communities (EJCs). Access to charging is a significant barrier to EV adoption for residents without a dedicated garage, driveway, and/or private parking space. On-Street Charging, such as pole-mounted, streetlight, or curbside charging stations, has become increasingly appealing for municipalities looking to ensure all residents have sufficient charging options.

MassCEC has selected Commonwealth Electrical Technologies, supported by Leidos, to provide technical and financial support to Massachusetts municipalities interested in piloting on-street electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Fifteen (15) municipalities are receiving funding and technical support for on-street charging project implementation. Another twenty-five (25) municipalities are receiving on-street charging feasibility studies. Through the program, MassCEC aims to create a more accessible and equitable EV charging network throughout the Commonwealth.
